Director of Music Ministry
I took my first organ lesson when I was a sophomore in high school and was the church organist at Zion Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania, until I went to college. During my senior year at IUP, I took organ lessons from Katherine Carl who was on the music staff at IUP, and when I moved to Carlisle to teach, I substituted at many of the churches in Carlisle. After moving to Mechanicsburg, I became organist at Summerdale UMC. I then served at Pine Street UMC in Steelton as director of music/organist (unfortunately that church closed) which led to me serving at Mount Olivet UMC in Mechanicsburg as director of music/choirs and organist.
Later I accepted a shared musician position (director of music/director of the sanctuary choir/organist) at Camp Curtain Memorial Mitchell Church in Harrisburg. Wanting to get back on the West Shore, I accepted the position at CUMC.
I teach piano, am an evaluator for the Apollo Awards, and volunteer at the Whitaker Center, Central Pennsylvania Animal Alliance, and other organizations.
I am about introducing all kinds of music to the congregation, calling people forth to lead in worship and share their musical talents, connecting with a broad range of people, and being a part of the CUMC family.
